We, the Perren family, have been looking after SCHLOSS Zermatt for nearly 40 years. In that time we’ve renovated, redesigned and evolved, but one thing has remained constant: our passion for looking after the wellbeing of our guests.
The first construction of SCHLOSS Zermatt was like piecing together a puzzle, but even with everything in place, we’re always on the move.
You can see this in our new lobby and reception area. It’s modern but still features nods to the area and its history: wood was used from old chalets, while original stone lines the fireplace and is engraved with markings from 1871.
Re-using interesting materials is just one part of our sustainability plan. We are changing our heating system to a wood-fired one and have installed solar panels and thermal heating in places. The green seeds are in place and we’ll continue to grow in the coming years.
An ‘old’s cool’ approach to looking after people
Despite our modern outlook and feel, we bring an old-school approach to hospitality. We always have an extra member of staff around so you’ve got someone to talk to when you need it.
Everything is about that personal touch: you and us for a weekend, week or longer. We’ll book restaurants for you and share our tips for the day.
“This is where the wind will be today so avoid these slopes.”
“The weather’s not going to be great in that area so let’s change your lunch booking to this place instead. And when you’re there, be sure to try this dish.”
“Oh you’re off to Cervinia? Be careful not to catch the last lift as they often go on a break and you might miss your return back!”
